Why poetry…the answers!!!
A poetic-mate of ours was wondering a few days ago,
Why we write poems, what reasons do we know,
So, I thought, why not, just compile and present,
Cause of this addiction, why poetry we can’t resent.
One thing’s for sure, no one’s born reciting verses,
If ever it happens, imagine the horror on the faces of nurses,
There’s always a first time, when we collect words that rhyme,
The excitement soars when someone calls it ‘a little above just fine’.
Slowly, we’re caught in a no-escape web wide,
Deriving pleasure from lingual idiosyncrasies comes under limelight,
With every line we add, ten other capture our mind,
The chain continues, relating new pieces with the ones behind.
Initially, there’s a search for topics to write about,
But later, with time on hand, there’s an urge to write, forgetting counts,
Sometimes, just to kill time, sometimes, to pour our heart out,
At times, our expressions are subtle, and at times, way too loud.
No doubt, all began, with scribbling on blank pages,
However, keying it onto the PC, is easily preferred by present ages,
But, leave alone the medium, the thoughts matter more,
Breaking fences, crossing boundaries, bringing alive every word to the core.
Well, I wrote what I felt, now it’s time for my case to rest,
Hoping I’ve convinced all my poetic pals to the best,
Don’t you dare desert this art, on the advice of some expressionless morons,
Write what you feel…feel what you write, and keep smiling…for you’ll surely ROCK ON!!!
Mood---kind of analytical.
